A collaboration to develop and market reagent kits and antibodies used in immunohistochemical (IHC) testing worldwide has been announced by ChromaVision Medical Systems, Inc. (San Juan Capistrano, CA, USA) and Richard-Allan Scientific Company (Kalamazoo, MI, USA).

Richard-Allan will manufacture antibodies and reagents for ChromaVision to market along with its Automated Cellular Imaging System (ACIS), which combines color-based imaging technology with automated microscopy. The combination of specialized reagent kits and the ACIS digital microscope system will provide laboratory and pathology customers with an integrated laboratory testing tool to address the growing need for standardized, quantifiable IHC testing information. Reagent kits that support tests most frequently performed by customers on the ACIS system are expected to be available in the near future, followed by a full suite of kits that support all tests performed using the system.

"Richard-Allan Scientific is the worldwide leader in reagent, consumable, and equipment sales to the anatomical pathology market, while the ChromaVision ACIS has emerged as the most widely used imaging system in clinical practice,” said Carl W. Apfelbach, president and COO of ChromaVision. "This alliance provides a unique sales growth opportunity for both companies.”
