Patient Recruitment for Clinical Trials

A new strategic alliance will provide an enhanced suite of web-enabled patient recruitment solutions for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clinical trial sponsors.

Veritas Medicine (Cambridge, MA, USA) and Harris Interactive (Rochester, NY, USA) have formed an alliance to create and provide a comprehensive range of new services. These include the Veritas Medicine web-based screening and recruitment platforms and Harris Interactive's expanded healthcare database offerings, with its Chronic Illness panel of 800,000+ households. By leveraging technology, the two companies will provide protocol feasibility testing; online screening, referral, and retention; and other services designed to increase the effectiveness of patient recruitment. Clinical trial sponsors will now be able to access these services through a single source.

"Our respective patient recruitment services are complementary,” noted Dr. Joseph Avellone, CEO of Veritas Medicine. "Working together, Harris Interactive and Veritas Medicine can now offer a seamless, integrated suite of recruitment services that will provide our clients with greater flexibility, and ultimately, more highly qualified patients.”

Dr. Avellone added that online recruitment is the next big change coming to the clinical studies services marketplace. It saves time, saves money, and increases the satisfaction level of the patients who participate in a clinical study.
